If you could have the answer to only one question, what would you ask? Do all questions have answers? Are two minds better than one? Are a billion minds better still? Are science and faith compatible? Does how you think determine what you think? Who would try to stop you from asking your question? To what extremes would they go? THE QUESTION is thriller . . . a fantasy . . . fiction that you may wish, may believe, may know is true.

THE QUESTION eBook R Breuer Stearns

The Question is a book that makes you think, by an author who clearly thinks about the world. an exercise in short supply these days. in particular, it hits on two great contemporary themes: crowd sourcing and terrorism/religious fanaticism. and this is crowd sourcing at the highest level. inter special.
while the actual community of participants causes the reader to suspend disbelief, how else to write good sci-fi. and there's plenty for the tech minded in here, as well as a cool read for those who like suspense.
there are some reviews that critique the pace of the book in the beginning, but i thought that is what made it realistic. i mean, really, is the Prexy going to listen to the idea and just say, "Sure, let's do it.'? on display was the true agony of people who have great ideas and struggle to get others to listen.
this is the author's debut book of fiction. so i had a few quibbles. one character was overdrawn while another was underdrawn. but as with all art, not everyone would agree with me. i've heard the book may be under consideration for the big screen. it would make a great flick!

THE QUESTION eBook R Breuer Stearns Reviews

What an interesting read! I will admit that the book started off rather strangely to me, with whales and an oceanic beginning. It was slow to begin but most definitely picked up the pace. This fantasy is one that will make you analyze your own being and the way that you think. The premise is that a group are looking to create a unity of minds to determine if God exists. As you could possibly guess, there is much controversy within the pages regarding this group who are looking to gain the unity. The book incorporates faith, science, the human condition, and ideas of terrorism all in to one beautifully written novel. The author is able to keep the reader intrigued in seeing if in fact this group can gain a unity and obtain the answer to the question. As with any kind of testing, there are many obstacles endured. The author is able to wrap the book up neatly and leave the reader with a sense of closure, yet it keeps the reader thinking about his/her own life and ideals. I would recommend this book to young adult readers or anyone looking for an intriguing fantasy. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have read several other books that have the scientific aspect and they can run a fine line between being too unbelievable. So how do you make a story so it is plausible? Well you need to make the storyline be something that readers could imagine actually happening without being too "techie". Which there was some of this in this story but that and even the graphic violence and occasional sexual allusions were not what bothered me. In fact this book is a quick read if you can get past the first like sixteen chapters. It was a slow beginning. I struggled to stick with the book in the beginning but I wanted to find out the answer to the "Question". Which I do agree with some of the other readers that this is not the "Question" that would first come to my mind. Also, I found the flow from the different characters and locations not a smooth transfer also in the beginning. I found myself skimming the book at times but the last half of the story is better.

Can t read this crap. Something's should be left a lone.

This one stepped over the line I have.
One of the best "free" reads I've had in a year. Couldn't put this one down! The author has visited some very interesting theories and topics, it really makes you think about the possibilities of a collective singularity. Loved it, and looking forward to the sequels, and yes I will pay for them.
A totally unique plot that takes the reader into unexplored areas. Very creative, and highly recommended for serious readers who want something that is intellectually engaging and challenging. Far more than a whimsical quick-read.
This book innocently but powerfully presents and unwraps a deep philosophical concept that provides a mind-boggling perspectives on the brain, acquisition of knowledge, generation of insights, the phenomenon of “having visions”, and the wondrous intelligence that permeates all living creatures. By the time you are done reading the book you are pretty convinced that you have a plausible and logical answer to the old-age question regarding the root nature of reality, existence and knowledge, which has always been at the center of human bewilderment, yet has also always been beyond our grasp and comprehension.
The beauty of this book is that such a deep philosophical concept is presented in a subtle and clever way that you are sure you are reading just another fascinating “spy” novel, as opposed to a very deep philosophical novel. This is brilliantly accomplished by wrapping two parallel stories into one. The first story is an interesting terrorist plot to inflict maximum casualties in the USA, and the other is a portrayal of a thorough, scientifically based methodology, step-by-step experimentation and logical conclusions that deal with the broader philosophical issue. The book takes you on the philosophical journey without you even realizing it. As stated earlier, by the time you are done reading the book you are pretty convinced that you have a plausible and logical answer regarding the root nature of reality, existence and knowledge. If you like logic and reasoning, or if you have ever wondered about the existence of unknown “forces” in the universe, you will utterly enjoy this book.
