Mara’s brother Soren remembers when his name was Cole.
He remembers how he used to play pirate ship with his brothers in the backyard, the taste of his mother’s soft and chewy chocolate-chip cookies, and that he rode the number eight bus to get to school.
And he also remembers the night he died.
On a dark and windy night, Soren tells Mara about the person who killed him before he chose to live with their family. Mara sets out to investigate her little brother’s claims of a past life and discovers that the small tidbits of memory appear to match the life of a boy who was murdered fifteen years ago.
As she inserts herself deeper into the life Cole left behind, Mara’s world begins to unravel. Those who believe her are worried for her safety, and those that don’t are worried for her emotional wellbeing. Confused and frightened, Mara begins a journey deep into the heart of what it means to be alive, what it means to be dead, and everything in-between.
"After Life" is a compelling YA paranormal thriller and an bestseller.

I enjoyed the book. It wasn't what I thought it was though. I read through it pretty quick. About half way through there started to be grammar errors and it got a little worse as it went. So that could have been better. This book is actually more about past lives than the after life. I liked the main character, but I thought that she was REALLY forgiving. I don't think I know anyone like that in real life. Her "best friend" does something to her that I would have found a hard time forgiving. At least quickly. And she seems to be willing to have her back in her life right away. And to put it bluntly, the best friend really turned out to be a B****. Anyway, good(ish) read. I would be willing to try another one from this author. Hopefully with better editing.Product details

After Life eBook Shelbi Wescott Reviews
Good story about reincarnation, but I would have liked it better without the horror aspect. The author had the chance to write a novel about a family's reaction to a child's claim of reincarnation. The horror aspect reduced the book to a cheap thriller. Still, there was enough to the plot that, if you discount the not so scary ghost parts, the book deserves 4 stars.
This book was okay. I don't generally read this type of book, but I wanted something different. I'm probably not the best person to judge this
book because it's not the type I usually read, but if one likes this type of book they will find it interesting. So, please don't use me as your guide.
A very enjoyable book which makes you think about the whole past life phenomenon. It isn't a far fetched idea. There is a mid east religion, I believe the participants are called the Druze, in which a number of their young children commonly remember details of their most recent past life. When something seems believable it makes the premise of the book more fascinating and frightening.
There are many aspects of this book that I liked, but the rather disjointed method of storytelling was a bit distracting. It could use a bit more editing as well.
This is not really a horror story, but more of a mystery. The premise is great and, for the most part, successfully delivered. Toward the end it got a bit rushed. The characters are interesting.
Overall, a good read.
This book is very well written and I found it easy to put myself in the place of the main character. Life as a senior in high school can be tumultuous as shown in this book. However most don't have to delve into the areas of reincarnation and hauntings. If you want a suspenseful book with realistic characters and a plot that keeps you guessing, I highly recommend this one!
Potentially scary plot thinned out by inexplicable teenage behaviors that are inconsistent. Determined to solve a murder mystery (that nobody cares about) or help(?) her little brother in some undefined way, the heroine hurts other people as well as herself. But we don't know what justifies her actions. And worst of all, the author has no feel for drama or climax.
Excellent reading! I really enjoyed everything about this book. The story is riveting and the characters are all believable. None of the characters are perfect or cliched, and each one has a distinct personality. The plot is fascinating, with some really chilling elements. Although it's basically a paranormal story, there is horror as well, the kind of subtle horror that makes a story truly scary.
Well written, well edited, and very entertaining. This book was fun to read from first page to last.
